Grading Policy

  • ALGEBRA II

Materials - students are encouraged to keep a neat, complete and well-organized BINDER OR a GRAPH-PAPER notebook AND a FOLDER, and they may use both their notes and all class handouts for quizzes (but not for Tests or the Midterm or Final Exam). STUDENTS IN HONORS CLASSES MAY NOT USE THEIR NOTES FOR ANY EXAMS. As there is a significant amount of graphing in this course, I recommend the use of graph paper for all note-taking, so that accurate, neat graphs can easily be added to any problem.

Participation - Each student will receive 45 participation points at the beginning of each quarter. That number will be reduced by 1 point on any day(s) that the student is talking during instruction, not taking notes, and not showing all work during independent and group practice.  STUDENTS IN HONORS CLASSES DO NOT RECEIVE A PARTICIPATION GRADE.

Extra Credit - Individual extra credit will be given for the first quarter, at my discretion, upon the request of a student and/or guardian.  Individual extra credit can only be earned if a student has followed all the classroom rules and is actively participating in class.  Class-wide extra credit in subsequent quarters may occasionally be given in class, and if a student is absent the day it is assigned, they are not eligible for that extra credit
